A Few thoughts....
Recently, reading about the crisis of the earth - global warming and its ill effects, pollution, ozone layer depletion etc. has brought a few thoughts to my head. I have seen various corporates trying to make a quick buck in times of crisis and need, by raising their prices when the stock or supply of a needed item is low. I also see the prices of petroleum rise every day.
We have been given a beautiful planet to live. Yet, every day almost entire forests are cut down in the name or urbanization and development. Companies which produce greenhouse gases by the cartloads are adamant in adopting eco friendly operation measures, because this costs money. And when they agree to do this, they raise the prices in order to keep their profit margin high.
In this world, money has become greater than God. I find it shameful that people try to cheat customers, deprive them of their livelihood (when they raise prices during lack of supply) all in the name of profit. It is equally shameful that companies try to keep their profit margins steady at any cost. It is right that they have to pay their employees, but there has to be some compromise if we intend to keep a balance between nature, people and industries.
For example, mostly all of us know the ill effects of global warming. It has already manifested itself badly in places across the world. If, for the sole reason of making money, people keep cutting trees and making new high rise buildings, and also raise prices for the craze of money, it won't be long before global warming reaches such a bad state that people have to migrate to colder areas to live happily. Unfortunately land and space is still limited and the colder areas won't hold everyone. So this means its every one for himself, and all the money in the world cannot save you.
Honestly, when you try and hurt the balance of nature and human and animal lifestyle in the way of money, you cannot expect to go away a happy man. In the long run, this will prove fatal. And supposing you clear a forest for buildings, when an extreme weather conditions happens, all the money in the world will not allow you to prevent the damage that was meant to be.
The incentive of making money should be secondary to the incentive of preserving life; for without life, your money is nothing but monkey's toys. So I would like people and industries to wake up to the appaling reality, and start saving the Earth and its people instead of trying to fill their butts with money.
